Frequently Asked Questions

What are bioidentical hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are derived from plant sources and have identical molecular structures to the hormones your body produces. They are made in a lab, but are not considered foreign substances by your body because they are exactly the same as the hormones that your body produces.

Synthetic hormones are also made in a lab, but they are foreign substances to the body because they are not identical to the hormones produced by your body.

How long will it take to notice results?

It usually takes about 3-4 weeks to start noticing the effects of the hormones. Hormones work by altering the DNA (the genetic makeup) of the cell. They bind to the receptor outside of the cell and then go into cell and into the nucleus (the brain of the cell). Once in the nucleus, hormones bind to the cell DNA and alter the genetic makeup of the cell.

How do I know if I qualify?

Lab results, clinical symptoms, and your history and physical will determine whether you qualify for treatment or not. We will only treat a patient if treatment is a medical necessity. Testosterone and other hormone levels begin to steadily decline as early as 30 years of age. Most of our patients are older than 35 years of age, but as mentioned earlier, lab results, clinical symptoms, and your medical history and physical performed by a Genemedics Health Institute medical doctor will determine whether you qualify for treatment.

NOTE: WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS FOR THE PURPOSES OF MUSCLE BUILDING OR PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT!

Do I need to stay on the hormone replacement therapy program forever?

No. The numerous benefits you will get from hormone replacement therapy are due to the optimization of hormone levels. If you decide to stop the program, your hormone levels will return to where they were prior to starting treatment and you will most likely develop the symptoms you had prior to starting hormone replacement therapy. Without hormone balance from the hormone therapy program, you will be at increased risk of developing medical conditions associated with hormone imbalance.  In order to maintain the quality-of-life and health benefits from hormone replacement therapy, you must continue the therapy. You will, however, maintain the health benefits during the period of time that the bioidentical hormones were used.

Will the Genemedics Health Institute medical doctor take over as my primary care physician?

No. The medical doctors at Genemedics Health Institute specialize in preventative medicine, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), nutrition, nutritional supplements and fitness. We are happy to communicate with your primary care physician (and any of your other doctors) as needed to make sure you are getting the best health care available!

Can Genemedics Health Institute use blood work that I already had done?

Genemedics Health Institute can use your previous blood work if your lab results were within the last 6 months and include the lab tests we require. The labs we require are very specific, as there are many important lab tests we need. We use these lab results to understand the cause of the hormone deficiencies and provide the proper treatment. Other lab values are monitored to assure that we help you achieve your health and fitness goals while maintaining optimal health and wellness.

Does insurance cover the cost of the program?

It depends on the type of insurance you have and your specific insurance plan. In general, insurance will usually cover the routine labs, which patients are required to get every six months. Insurance may also cover medications (with possible co-pays), depending on the insurance plan. Please contact the office for more details.

There is also a program of $995.00 every six months. (Click here to view the services this fee includes.) We do not bill the insurance directly for this fee, but we can provide you with an invoice for our services and you can submit the invoice to the insurance for possible reimbursement.

We accept Care Credit!

We know the incredible life-changing effect the program will have, so we try to accommodate all of our potential patients to make the program more affordable. If you cannot afford to pay the $995.00 fee all at once, please contact us and we will set up a payment plan so that you can afford to get started on the road to a new, healthier, younger you!
