One of the cons of this activity is that you need to know the basics of roller skating including good balance and coordination for it to work. Protective gear is a must whenever you roller skate.
For beginners, you can start off with 30 minutes straight. To increase the difficulty, you can do interval skating (increasing your speed for the first 2 minutes of every 5 minutes).
