Vitamin D and Cardiovascular Health

Vitamin D can also help reverse heart damage and protect against cardiovascular diseases. Because it has beneficial effects on various cardiovascular parameters such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, vitamin D can be an important nutrient for the maintenance of a healthy heart. A growing number of studies support the cardiovascular effects of vitamin D:
1. Vitamin D deficiency significantly increases one’s risk of developing cardiovascular disease and related deaths. [728-747]
2. In adults with cardiovascular disease, very modest amount of vitamin D (500 IU) is associated with 8% reduction in all-cause mortality. [748-749]

13. Vitamin D3 prevents heart disease by regulating the inflammatory response in human coronary arterial endothelial cells. [771]
