services-3The U.S. Surgeon General has officially declared obesity an epidemic! Obesity has now surpassed smoking as the number one cause of preventable death in this country. Our health care system now spends an estimated $120 billion a year on obesity-related issues. Currently, two out of every three Americans (62%) are overweight or obese…and the numbers are increasing.

Our children are also severely being affected. Since 1980, the number of overweight kids has doubled, and the number of overweight adolescents has tripled. Currently, one in six children between the ages of six and 19 are overweight. Many of these children are now developing obesity-related health problems, including bone and joint problems (i.e., osteoarthritis), various cancers, cardiovascular problems (i.e., heart disease, hypertension, stroke), respiratory problems (i.e., asthma, sleep apnea), and depression. For the first time in history, our adolescents are being diagnosed with type II diabetes, formerly a disease of middle-aged adults. If we continue our current trend, one-third of children born in the year 2020 will have type II diabetes as adults. The obesity epidemic is killing us and our children!

The good news is that many people are trying to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. This is evident by the billions of dollars spent each year on nutritional supplements, diet books, exercise equipment and even gastric bypass surgery. The bad news is that 75-95% of people with short-term weight loss success end up gaining the weight back and sometimes even gain a few extra pounds. How could this be? The answer is simple…DIETS DO NOT WORK!

Many of us have been through the vicious “yo-yo” dieting cycles. You start a “hot new diet plan” and begin to lose weight. You begin to see some results and feel good about yourself. But the restrictions of these fad diets are often so extreme that you end up “falling off” the diet plan and you gain all of your weight back and possibly a few extra pounds. You’re now back where you started, but more importantly, you become discouraged and begin to think that you are a failure and you just can’t lose weight.

You are not a failure, and you can lose weight. You just need a different approach to the entire process.

The secret to permanent weight loss success is developing a system that is specifically customized for you.
